ICP & TON Dominate Blockchain Speed; AI Partnerships Proliferate

ICP and Toncoin Top Blockchain Performance Rankings

New data reveals significant performance differences among blockchains. Internet Computer (ICP) and Toncoin (TON) led April 2025 rankings. They achieved the highest average transactions per second (TPS). Phoenix Group released this performance data.

ICP recorded an average TPS of 4,800. TON followed closely with 4,300 TPS. These speeds place them far ahead of competitors. Rapid block finality contributes to this efficiency. ICP averaged 480 milliseconds per block. TON completed blocks even faster at 390 milliseconds. High user activity also boosted TON. It had 13.7 million active addresses in April. This was the highest among tracked chains. These metrics highlight ICP and TON’s scalability. They handle large operations consistently.

Mid-Tier Blockchains Lag Significantly

The performance gap below the top two is large. Solana (SOL) ranked third with just 95.8 TPS. Near Protocol (NEAR) managed 81.7 TPS. Avalanche (AVAX) recorded 70.4 TPS. These chains are popular for dApps and smart contracts. However, their throughput is much lower than ICP/TON.

Other platforms showed moderate speeds. Sui achieved 66.6 TPS. Polygon (MATIC) handled 50.4 TPS. Arbitrum (ARB) processed 46.6 TPS. These support major DeFi and Web3 ecosystems. Yet, they lag far behind in raw transaction speed.

Ethereum and Bitcoin Show Scalability Limits

Established giants Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin (BTC) ranked low. Ethereum averaged only 3.5 TPS in April. This highlights its ongoing throughput bottlenecks. Ethereum relies on Layer 2 solutions like rollups for scaling.

Bitcoin’s average TPS was just 4.7. While dominant as a store of value, its speed is limited. Other chains like Tron, BNB Chain, and Cardano posted moderate TPS. They represent different trade-offs between speed and decentralization. The data emphasizes the blockchain TPS rankings disparity. Newer protocols demonstrate significantly higher throughput capabilities.

AI and Blockchain Partnerships Enhance Efficiency

Collaborations are merging AI with blockchain efficiency. Neurochain.AI partnered with Bitgert recently. Neurochain provides decentralized AI capabilities to developers. It has 156,000 users and significant GPU resources (200TB memory).

Bitgert offers a high-speed, gas-free blockchain. It claims over 100,000 TPS capacity. The partnership combines Neurochain’s AI with Bitgert’s efficiency. The goal is cost-effective AI dApps. Eliminating gas fees lowers barriers for AI projects. This synergy attracts developers and expands possibilities.

REI Network and Jumbo Blockchain Focus on Web3 Speed

Another partnership targets Web3 performance. REI Network teamed up with Jumbo Blockchain. REI is a lightweight, EVM-compatible, zero-fee blockchain. It focuses on efficient smart contract deployment. Jumbo Blockchain is an L1 focused on industrial performance. It uses patented parallel processing technology.

Their collaboration combines REI’s speed and EVM ease with Jumbo’s power. The aim is sustainable, secure, ultra-fast Web3 solutions. This enables scalable dApps for GameFi and DeFi.
